Janda Baik Waterfalls......

Had a company event at Janda Baik the last weekend. The waterfall there was amazing. Cold clear water gushing down the fall with small fishes swimming in the grotto. Had an amazing time there. the headache that I was having for the last few days was even healed by the cold water after the dip there. highly recommended for anyone seeking a short hike.

SRAM RED REAR DERAILLEUR BADLY DAMAGED

My SRAM Rear Derailleur was badly damaged during my last ride to Frasers Hill. The Derailleur Pivot screw holes came loose and caused the upper pulley wheel carbon fiber cage to be dislodged from the body of the derailleur. Even the upper pulley wheel broke and as you can see from the picture, lost a few of the pulley tooth. Luckily I was not cycling fast when the incident happened. Decided that this would be my last carbon rear derailleur ever. I installed an 11 Speed SRAM Rival 22 rear derailleur after this. Yes... an 11 Speed Rival 22 Rear derailleur works with a 10 Speed SRAM Red power train.. The SRAM Apex comes with a aluminium pulley cage and a aluminium derailleur body at only 35grams heavier. Even comes with the same AeroGlide Pulleys like the SRAM Red 22. Peace of mind.

Paragon Machine Works

Just installed the Paragon Machine Works Titanium Combination  Cap Screw with Washers for the Carver 420 sliding Dropouts. Cap Screws were super light at about 10g per side and 20g per pair. The 6mm machined Allen slots was done at a very tight tolerance which enables the bolts to be tighten more.

Difference between 2x10 and 3x10 SRAM front derailleur cages

Seen a lot of discussions around the difference between a SRAM X9 2x10 and a 3x10 front derailleur. One significant difference is the cage length and width. The X9 3x10 (upper pics) cage appears to be wider and longer in length than the 2x10 (lower) cage.

Carver 420 Lefty Build

Just started another new build project. This time its a Carver 420 titanium frame size 17. Carver 420 frame geometry uses the short chain-stay frame style and Paragon Machine Works sliding drop out inserts. The Paragon Machine Works sliding drop out inserts will allow the frame to accept both 29 and 27.5 wheels. Unique feature of the frame is the bending seat tube which enables the shorter chain stay to be used, an inherent problem with 29er type of frames is the larger frame geometry that makes it cumbersome to maneuver in tight technical trails.
