Ranger Repair status

Received a call from Ford SDAC PJ , Accident parts just arrived after just 3 days from thailand. Service guy there David Chan was a great help, even came back on a Leave day. According to them the Ranger would be ready to roll again by new years day.

Update, after dismantling more innards were damaged in the collision causing delay in the repair ... new ETA, 1st week of Jan 2013 for the repair completion date.

Received the Ranger back from SDAC yesterday. Paint job on the bumper was superb. Outstanding from SDAC is the left & right wheel arch cover. Items will arrive next week.

Ranger invoIved in an accident

Ranger was involved in an accident with a tax driven by a drunk taxi driver and a speeding BMW.  Damage was not very extensive. Bumper, grille and air condition condenser was damaged in the accident however condition of the other Car was far worst. Ranger really lived up to its motto......Built Tough . Miraculously bumper sprung back to its origins form after a few hours. Scratches polished off nicely, only the moutings broke during the impact.

New Fog Light Cover Installed

The new chrome fog light cover for the T6 from Thailand installed. Installation of the Trim was very easy. Firstly some acetone wipe was used to remove any grease or oil residue from the fog Iight area where the trim mounts, then the mounting tape is prepped for installation. Installations is as simple as placing the cover on the correct position and pressing it down for mounting. Fit was amazing, looked as if it was an OEM item.

Shoei X-Eleven Helmet partially restored

My 5 year old Shoei X11 helmet badly needs some TLC. Although the external shell is in imaculate condish but the cushion and padding inside is badly worn out. Manage to find a seller for the padding and after a week long wait, courier finally delivered the cheek pads to my humble abode. Installation was a 5 min affair with 3 fasteners on each side, the cheek pads snapped in place. Only thing now is to replace inner helmet liner to fully restore the norick abe replica Shoei X-Eleven to its former glory.

Tire Lean Indicator

Love the tire Lean Indicator of the Metzeler Sportec M5 Interact tire which tells you the level of usage & how far into the corner you have leaned. There are five lean indicator markings which is placed on the shoulder of the rear tyre where the profile meets the road surface at angles of approximately 1 (Straight line) 25°, 30°, 2 ( Mid Lean) 35°, 40° and 5 (Full Lean) 45° and an additional Elephant logo to mark the far edge of the tire.

Enter the Metzeler Sportec M5 Interact .....

Just slapped on a pair of Metzeler Sportec M5 Interact .....will write more in a few days when the tire has settled in...Tire has a taller & narrower as compared to my older BT016 of the same 180/55 size. Evident because now I have more clearance between the chain to the side of the tire.

Very First Video

Launching the very first video of the Cyclops. Hope you all like it.

Latest Picture & Review of the new braking system

Glad to able to say that the Brembo + 310mm braking system is still living up to its expectation as a good and reliable braking system both in the dry and wet condition. I initially expected the combination to be too overwhelming for the Mini twin but to my surprise it compliments the ER6 as I zoom around KL traffic to and fro work daily. Contrary to most comments about this mod..you can never have too much stopping power. Its just how we make use of it that matters.

New picture of the DMV chain adjuster after installation on the bike. Just a cosmetic mod, only advantage i can think of is the weight reduction & better indication of the wear level of the chain.

Some new shots

Added some new shots with the DMV chain adjuster installed. After a few days riding to work, I can feel that the Brembo Pads are sitting better into the Rotors and providing even more stability especially during hard braking session. (During my daily commute to and fro office) in the heavy KL Congestion.

Brembo Caliper Mod Completed

Brembo Caliper Mod completed. GSXR750 Brembo Mono block caliper & the 310mm ZX10R Rotor mounted on the Cyclops without a glitch, completely plug & play. A last minute addition from a ZX10R OE 70mm Caliper bolt to replace the 60mm ER6n Bolt to hold the taller Brembo caliper was needed. The whole assembly looked so much beefier from the older Nissin Caliper from the ZX14 but surprisingly weights noticeably lighter. Weight reduction came from the lighter Brembo caliper & the 310mm rotor.

First ride feeling.....Right from the workshop, the single finger braking is more possible. Braking feels to be more progressive compared to the ON/OFF feeling of the ZX14 caliper. Guess I will need to let the Brembo  Pads sit into the rotor more, will comment further within a few more days.

DMV Chain Adjuster Bracket

Another additional DMV component to the Cyclops...the DMV Chain Adjuster Bracket code DMV-CA-KA-01-GD, for Versys 650 2006-2012, ER6N/F 2012 & ZX-9R1998-1999 (Sorry does not support ER6N 2008-2011). Luckily the Cyclops is hybrid ER6N & Versys. Cant wait to mount it for the additional bling to the dull silver colored Versys swingarm.

ZX10R 08-10 310mm Rotors

Manage to score myself a set of ZX10R 08-10 (which are 310mm) Rotors of the bay. They look to be true and straight from the pictures. Hopefully they are as the seller described. Stay tuned for the latest progress on the Brembo Caliper mods.

TOKICO Caliper for sale

I still have the original TOKICO from the ER6n for sale. Do PM me if you are interested.

Brembo Monoblock Caliper

Brembo Monoblock Caliper from GSXR750 has just arrived, first attempt to install had shown that the 300mm rotor of the ER6n proffed to be too small. Only 2/3 of the Rotor surface has contact with the Brembo Brake Pads. Further measurement shows that the 310mm Rotor from the ZX10R 08 09 10 will fit nicely onto this setup. Apart from that a longer caliper bolt is required as the original ZX10R 06 Bolt is about  5cm shorter.
So I'm off to the bay to scamper for a suitable ZX10R rotor.

Grab rail cover arrived...

Grab rail cover arrived from Bangkok dispatched by a friend (Marc). Following his advise, some double sided tapes was used to secure the new covers to the mounts. Bike did look weird without the cover.

To my dismay, discovered last weekend tat my gab rail cover on the right side had fell off. Just purchased a new pair from Marc and hope it arrives soon. Will try some means of securing it so that it does not fly off the next time around

Nissin Mono Block Caliper Anyone...?

Pondering the idea of integrating the 2010 Triumph Daytona 675 Front caliper onto the ER6n. Why the 2010 Triumph Daytona 675 caliper you might ask...? The 2010 and later calipers are Mono Block calipers, which means that they are made / Machined from a single piece of forged aluminum. Much stronger, and less prone to the caliper twisting during load. Higher cost due to difficult manufacturing. the Pre 2010 Daytone is equipped with Twin-block calipers which are joined together (front and back) by two pieces with the bolts on front face, top and bottom of the caliper (usually 3 sets each). More prone to twisting. Lower cost than mono-block type.
